Prof. mr. J.G.J. Rinkes

Jac Rinkes (b. 1959) has been professor of private law at the Open Universiteit Nederland in Heerlen since 2001 and endowed professor in European consumer law at Maastricht University since 2002.

He also serves as deputy justice at the Court of Appeal in Arnhem. Jac has published numerous articles and books on specialist topics and is the editor of the Dutch journals Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Consumentenrecht, Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Handelsrecht and Tijdschrift Praktisch Procederen and a co-editor of the Jaarboek voor Consumentenrecht.

Alongside working in various consultancy projects for the European Commission, the Dutch Consumers’ Association, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER), the Netherlands Bar Association (NOvA) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Jac also holds/has held guest lectureships at the universities of Birmingham, Nancy and Bordeaux and contributed to the Matra, Taiex and Phare programmes (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary).

At Paulussen Advocaten he holds fortnightly lectures for lawyers and advises on complex legal cases.
