After graduating in business economics from Maastricht University in 1995, Marijke Schmitz went on to complete graduate training as a registered accountant in 1996. Over the next ten years she worked at firms including Arthur Andersen and KPMG, as well as for Koninklijke Ten Cate and Maastricht University.
After obtaining her degree in Dutch law from Maastricht University in 2005 she joined Paulussen Advocated and was sworn in as a lawyer. As an accountant, financial policy officer, auditor, consultant and supervisor in both the profit and non-profit sectors, she has expertise in governance, planning & control, complex cost accounting, subsidy procedures, project management, etc.

Marijke mainly consults on insolvency law and is regularly appointed as an administrator in bankruptcies. She also advises clients ranging from SMEs through to international listed companies on questions of business law and civil law.
